Domestic Flights

Belize currently has one international airport (Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport, also known as PGIA or BZE) which facilitates international flights from US gateway cities for arriving and departing customers. There is also a domestic airport (Belize Municipal Airport, also known as TZA) which facilitates in-country travel if passengers have booked both inland and island or coastal destinations. In this case it is not necessary to book travel from the International Airport to their next destination within Belize. Our domestic airline carriers are Maya Island Air and Tropic Air.  Both airlines have an excellent record for safety and reliability. Commuter flights are short flights on small planes, typically 6-10 passengers.

Things to know

  • We work with the providers to recommend the perfect flight time. We will make sure there’s plenty of time between connecting flights, especially if connecting to an international flight.

  • Be ready to take pictures! The views of the Caribbean Sea are breathtaking flying over the cayes and Maya Mountains.

  • There is no assigned seating and often a passenger gets to sit co-pilot!

Shuttle from domestic airports

Pricing quoted for domestic flights is from airport to airport and does not include onward transfer to the destination hotel. Some hotels offer complimentary shuttles from the closest commuter airport. Check with your Discovery Belize representative to see if your preferred hotel offers a complimentary domestic airport shuttle.
